Annual Sunny 106 Make-A-Wish Light Up A Child’s Life Campaign

Sunny 106 has raised over $2-million in 26 years for Make-A-Wish of Greater Pennsylvania. The Light Up A Child’s Life Campaign takes over Sunny 106 for one week in early December, ending with our Make-A-Wish auction.  Make a Wish grants wishes of children with critical illnesses.

Annual Kids Fair

Hundreds of families come to enjoy an afternoon of entertainment and explore resources in our community. Proceeds from the door benefit the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

Kids in Business

Kids create their own businesses, name their new enterprises, make products, and sell them on a Saturday in October at the DuBois Mall. Kids in grades K– 6th grade can participate.  60 aspiring entrepreneurs participated in 2020!

Halloween Parade

Sunny 106 & Connect FM present the DuBois a Halloween Parade every year, an event fully planned and produced by the stations. We host a fun, safe family event. Hundreds of families attend and prizes are awarded for the best costumes.

Annual Rotary Radio Action

Sunny 106 helped raise over $34,000 for the DuBois Rotary Club through our 26th Annual Rotary Radio Auction in 2019.

Annual Coat Collection

Sunny 106 supports and promotes an annual coat collection drive with Joe’s Cleaning and Alterations for the Salvation Army. More than 600 coats were donated in 2019.

Socks For Seniors

Listeners donated 167 pairs of new socks and 30 handmade hats to residents at the Christ the King Manor during the holidays. Seniors were thrilled with their new socks and the attention from Connect FM and its

United Way Fundraisers

These events help the United Way reach annual fundraising goals.

  • Sunny 106 & Connect FM support the United Way of DuBois by promoting the annual Wing Fling, and Pittsburgh Steelers Basketball Game.
  • Our 5th End of Summer Bash featured Blue Morning (Foreigner Cover Band) at Lakeview Lodge. Over 400 attendees in 2019.

Pet Patrol

Sunny 106 and Connect FM have reconnected pets with their owners through our Pet Patrol. Listeners call in lost or found pets and our stations promote the search for the owners/pets on air, on social media, and through our Pet Patrol text club.

Local School Involvement

Every month during the school year, Sunny 106 honors a student from Jeff Tech, Brookville, DuBois Catholic, DuBois Christian, or Brockway High Schools. These students show exemplary grades, community involvement, and willingness to help others. Sunny 106 has a long tradition of celebrating outstanding students in the community and continues to do so, thanks to our community sponsor Cole Orthodontics.

Each week during the school year Sunny 106 partners with Swift Kennedy Insurance Group to honor a local student-athlete, presenting them with a Sunny Athlete of the Week Award.

Favorite Firefighter

Listeners nominated nearly 100 local volunteer firefighters, then voted for one to win the Sunny 106 Favorite Firefighter award in 2019. The winner received a trophy and an overnight stay in Pittsburgh, including tickets to a Pittsburgh Pirates game.

Best Of Tri-County

Over 35,000 votes cast, celebrating the Tri-County Areas “Best” businesses in over 100 categories.
